He got licence back after help from MP

IF he had a choice, Mr Loh would prefer to be able to busk on Orchard Road, where he used to perform.

His current busking licence allows him to perform only in Chinatown and Woodlands.

His licence was revoked in May after he failed the National Arts Council's (NAC) annual busking test.

Desperate, he asked his Member of Parliament, Mr Hawazi Daipi, for help. His licence was reinstated after Mr Hawazi wrote to NAC.

Although he's glad he got his licence back, Mr Loh is still hoping that he can be allowed to busk on Orchard Road.

An NAC spokesman however, explained that a limitation of busking locations is necessary to avoid overcrowding.

The spokesman also said that buskers are required to re-audition once their licences expire.

She added: 'In this way, the council is able to assess and re-assess the artistic standards and performance of buskers.'

Buskers need to fill up a form available at the National Arts Council (NAC) at Mica Building in Hill Street or www.nac.gov.sg and then go through an audition before NAC issues a letter of endorsement.

"A Limitation of busking locations is necessary to avoid overcrowding"? More like, you don't want tourists walking down Orchard Road to be reminded of this unglamourous side of the society. Much as the society advocates equality and criticizes discrimination, the truth is deep down in our hearts, we have never given these people the equality we claim to have.

Signing up the 21km was a good motivation to keep myself training hard, in hope that I don't appear on papers the day after 6 Dec (no no, not this kind of glory). Been runnng at least 2 times a week and JK commented that I am getting addicted.

Shoes broke the last time I ran. Totally unglamourous. And while I was trying to act coy when the shoes gave way, an uncle just had to remind me (and loudly, may I add) that the shoes are goners.

"Xiao mei, na ge xie ji bu ke yi xiu liao la, huai liao."

And he was a good 2 metres away.

Birthday was just, well, birthday. Nothing special or fantastic. Lotsa' well wishes from friends and all. I got a Guess bag for my mum, inspired by my sis's friend who said that birthdays are rememberances of how XX years this day, your mum suffered to give birth to you. The rest was just being irritated by BFF (you shld be glad I am still calling you this), who seriously tried to test my patience.

Oh, did I mention I simply loathe how people love to shrug things off by 'ha ha ha ha' when I told them I am offended?

My JK doesnt do that, thank God.

Got a call from MICA two weeks ago for a job offer. Felt even happier than scoring triple As for my A levels (not tt I did though). They havent call me about about the contract but judging from the situation of a fellow classmate, I will probably start work a month later (earliest).

I can feel my Burberry bag beckoning me. woot.

JK is leaving for UK in a month's time. Am starting to think I lag in the realization of my emotions because till now, I ain't feeling anything at all.

BFF did got me something from Thailand afterall, despite me not being able to use it (do I look tt big-sized?). But it was nice knowing that I was in his thoughts then :) Tks dube.
